Description: The location for these unique Scottish vacation experience is in Dalriada, once the ancient kingdom of Scotland, which is located in the unspoilt coastal region now known as Mid Argyll.  Your accommodation base will be near Dunadd (Fort), the historical capital of Scotland, where in the past Scotland's Kings were crowned. Whilst staying in Dalriada you will experience the wild and wonderful nature of rural Scottish life within this unique Scottish Highlands area. There are various options available:

Prices are per person and are based on a booking of 2 persons, solo traveller please enquire for price.  

Option A: 7 day Mixed activity week - Priced from £725 per person 

Option B: 5 day Mixed activity week - Priced from £570 per person 

Our mixed activity breaks are based in one of the best outdoor playgrounds in Europe - the West coast of Scotland provides amazing locations for walking, cycling, sea kayaking and scenery. You will be based in Cairnbaan Mid Argyll, giving you easy access to these amazing locations - We offer 7 day or 5 day options. 

 

Option A: 7 night Mixed activity break - Priced from £725 per person 

Inclusions: 

7 nights – Arrive Saturday and depart Saturday

7 nights self-catered accommodation in our own Karibu cottage. Our cottage is located in Cairnbaan, 1 minute walk from the local pub serving a range of meals. Karibu cottage is well equipped with all amenities. It has 2 double bedrooms with 2 double beds. More info on Karibu Cottage is shown here Karibu Cottage 

5 days of guided activities.as outlined in the itinerary below

After you make a booking, you will be supplied with a list of personal items that you are required to bring along.  

 

Sample Itinerary: (Weather may affect and or change the itinerary).

Saturday: Travel to Argyll and check in to Karibu Cottage any time after 4 pm. At some point after your arrival, you will be met by a member of our team to have an introductory meeting.

Sunday:  Sea kayaking: After breakfast we will depart around 10.00am and make our way to one of the many launch locations, where we will have our introduction session to sea kayaking. We will go for a short paddle to learn the basics. For lunch we will go ashore with your picnic and continue in the afternoon exploring. We will return to Karibu cottage around 4pm.

Monday: Cycling: We will depart Karibu Cottage around 10.00 am for a full day cycle, the route will be determined according to your personal fitness level and choice. We will return to Karibu cottage around 4.pm      

Tuesday: Walking: We will depart Karibu cottage at around 10.00am for a full day walk, the route will be determined according to your interests and personal fitness level.  We will return to Karibu cottage at around 4pm

Wednesday: This morning is free. In the afternoon at around 4.00pm you will be provided a full Scottish Cooking lesson at Cairnbaan Cook School, followed by evening dinner from the recipes cooked, we will finish around 9.00pm 

Thursday: Sea kayaking: Today you will have another opportunity to explore by sea kayak, finishing back at Karibu cottage at around 4.00pm 

Friday:  This morning will be your choice of either a cycle or guided walk, the afternoon will be free.

Saturday: After breakfast you will depart by 10.00 am for your journey home.

Option B: 5-day Mixed activity break - Priced from £570 per person

3 days of guided activities as outlined in the itinerary below. 

1 Scottish cooking session with dinner at Cairnbaan Cook school 

After you make a booking, you will be supplied with a list of personal items that you are required to bring along.

Monday : Travel to Argyll and check in to Karibu Cottage anytime after 4 pm. At some point after your arrival you will be met by a member of our team to have an introductory meeting.

Tuesday :  After breakfast we will depart around 10.00am and make our way to one of the many launch locations, where we will have our introduction session to sea kayaking. We will go for a short paddle to learn the basics. For lunch we will go ashore with your picnic and continue in the afternoon to learn some additional fundamental skills. We will return to Karibu cottage around 5pm.

Wednesday: After breakfast we will depart for an all day cycle trip , the route will be chosen based on your interests and fitness level. We will return to Karibu for around 4.00pm 

Thursday:  After breakfast we will depart Karibu around 10.00 am and go on a walking tour along part of the Dalriada heritage trail. We will return to Karibu at around 1.00pm. In the afternoon you are invited to Cairnbaan Cook school for a full Scottish cooking lesson , followed by dinner from the recipes cooked. We will finish at around 9.0pm.  

Friday :  After breakfast you will depart Karibu Cottage by 10.00am for your journey home.

Travelling to Cairnbaan Scotland: These vacation and activity weeks are based in Cairnbaan Argyll , 

1. For international travellers , fly to Glasgow (GLA) airport, then follow the travel guidance below. 

2. The nearest town to this vacation base is Lochgilphead, which is easily reached by coach from Glasgow. The 926 service operated 5 times per day. 

3. After you arrive in Lochgilphead we will arrange to collect you free of charge. 

4. Alternatively you can take the Scotrail train from Glasgow to Oban , operates 3 times daily. From Oban to Cairnbaan a bus is possible depending on times or a taxi will cost an extra £50 for up to 3 people.     

5. Airport transfers from and to Glasgow International airport can be arranged at extra cost. Please enquire.
